Your Day-to-Day Journey
Follow this thoughtfully designed itinerary that takes you across Sumba’s western and eastern gems. From swimming in turquoise lagoons and chasing hidden waterfalls to exploring ancient villages and enjoying magical sunsets on white sandy beaches, each day promises new discoveries and unforgettable moments.
Your Sumba adventure begins at Tambolaka Airport (TMC), where our guide will warmly welcome you. The journey starts with a visit to Weekuri Lagoon, a natural saltwater pool with crystal-clear turquoise waters, perfect for a refreshing swim or simply relaxing by the rocky cliffs. Continue to Mandorak Beach, a secluded cove of soft white sand framed by dramatic cliffs that face each other like a giant gate. In the late afternoon, experience a magical sunset at Pero Beach, known for its panoramic ocean views and vibrant colors in the sky. Dinner will be served before you check in at Ella Hotel for an overnight stay.
After breakfast and check-out, the day begins with a visit to Waikelo Sawah, a cave spring that irrigates lush rice fields and supplies fresh water to the region. A short walk takes you to Weekacura River, a serene spot in the middle of rice paddies where you can swim and soak in the peaceful atmosphere. Continue to Prai Ijing Village, one of Sumba’s most iconic traditional settlements, where towering thatched-roof houses and megalithic tombs tell stories of a living culture. Here, you’ll have opportunities for photography and interaction with locals. In the afternoon, travel east towards Waingapu, stopping at the breathtaking Wairinding Hills. As the sun sets, the rolling savannas turn golden, creating one of the most stunning landscapes in Sumba. Dinner and overnight stay at Padadita Beach Hotel in Waingapu.
Today is dedicated to the natural beauty of East Sumba. After breakfast, head to Tanggedu Waterfall, often called the “Grand Canyon of East Sumba.” The waterfall is framed by dramatic rock formations and natural pools, making it one of the island’s most scenic spots. Next, visit Puru Kambera Beach, where vast savannas meet long stretches of white sand. Wild horses roaming freely across the landscape make this place feel like a scene from a painting. In the late afternoon, continue to Walakiri Beach, famous for its pygmy mangrove trees that create enchanting silhouettes during sunset. Enjoy the tranquil atmosphere before returning to your hotel in Waingapu for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, check out from Padadita Beach Hotel and transfer to Waingapu Airport (WGP) for your flight to the next destination. Take with you unforgettable memories of Sumba’s landscapes, culture, and warm hospitality.
