Your Journey Day by Day
Follow this carefully designed itinerary that takes you through Sumba’s most iconic highlights. Each day reveals a new story—swimming in turquoise pools, exploring ancient villages, and ending with sunsets that will stay with you long after your journey ends.
Welcome to Sumba! Upon arrival at Tambolaka Airport (TMC), meet your driver-guide and begin your journey with a visit to Manola Traditional Village, perched on a hilltop. Here, locals live traditionally with warmth and hospitality, offering visitors a glimpse into authentic Sumbanese life. In the late afternoon, head to Mananga Aba Beach, a wide stretch of golden sand, to enjoy a spectacular sunset. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
After breakfast, set out for the Kodi area, starting with the breathtaking Weekuri Lagoon, a natural saltwater pool with turquoise waters and rocky cliffs—perfect for swimming and relaxation. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Mandorak Beach, a small white-sand cove flanked by cliffs facing each other like a natural gate. Continue to Ratenggaro Village, home to Sumba’s tallest thatched-roof houses and ancient megalithic tombs, offering a rare cultural experience by the Indian Ocean. End the day at Pero Beach, famous for its sunset views, before returning to Tambolaka for dinner and overnight stay.
Check out after breakfast and drive to Waikelo Sawah, a natural cave spring that irrigates surrounding rice fields. A short walk takes you to Weekacura River, a tranquil stream amidst rice paddies where you can swim and relax. After lunch in Waikabubak, visit Prai Ijing Village, one of Sumba’s most iconic traditional villages with unique houses and megalithic heritage, perfect for exploration and photography. Continue eastward to Wairinding Hills, famous for its rolling savannas and golden sunsets. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Waingapu.
Begin the day with an excursion to Tanggedu Waterfall, often described as one of Sumba’s hidden gems. Its multi-tiered cascades, rock formations, and serene pools make it an ideal spot for a refreshing swim and nature escape. Afterward, continue to Puru Kambera Beach, where white sands meet open savannas dotted with free-roaming horses. In the afternoon, visit an artshop specializing in traditional ikat weaving, where you can observe the intricate process of dyeing and weaving threads into stunning geometric patterns—deeply tied to Sumba’s culture and mythology. Dinner and overnight in Waingapu.
Today, explore Waimarang Waterfall, one of Sumba’s most beautiful cascades, where clear blue pools invite you to swim amidst lush greenery. Continue to Rende (Praiyawang) Village, renowned for its megalithic tombs and traditional houses, where stone monuments stand as cultural and spiritual landmarks of Sumba’s rich heritage. In the late afternoon, unwind at Walakiri Beach, famous for its pygmy mangroves that create magical silhouettes against the sunset. Dinner and overnight stay in Waingapu.
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and transfer to Waingapu Airport (WGP) for your flight to the next destination.
